A Trucker's Life Part 14
This is a very difficult time in our country. Covid-19 and its variants, misinformation, sky-high fuel prices, rising taxes, legislation that hinders the shipping industry; you name it and we’re facing it. Truck drivers are in high demand and the truckers that have stayed on the road through all the changes are feeling that demand more than ever. But what of their families? I imagine they feel it too with truckers having to be on the road more; less home-time means more time missed with their loved ones and special events. We are entering into autumn: football, Halloween, Homecoming, school functions, Thanksgiving and Christmas; all things we tend to take for granted while our truckers and their families feel every missed moment. I cannot stress this enough; truckers have such a hard and taxing job and with the changes in our domestic climate that directly affect their jobs, they need all the love and support they can get. Please take time to thank a trucker for what they do. They have a position which is often overlooked and at times, even stigmatized by society and yet they deliver all our needs. I have called them our unsung heroes because that is precisely what they are, and they deserve our thanks. It’s a simple pat on the back and a “Thanks for what you do” or buying their coffee at the register. Small acts of appreciation go a long way.
